Spring City Tour/Scandinavian Festival

My mom and I and the 3 youngest stopped at the Scandinavian festival and then took a quick tour of the elementary school my Grandfather Art King attended as a boy. They are trying to get enough money to restore it. It was neat! We visited family graves and saw our ancestors buried next to Orson Hyde's grave. It was a great experience. Why had we not done that before? Wierd! Next time we can take Grandpa King so he can tell us some stories.

We had yummy Italian ice at the festival, but it turned our tongues funny colors.




Sydney loved dancing to the music of "The Professors", a band made up of Snow College professors, including my old band teacher! FUN!

Class Reunion...

I went back to Manti for our class reunion. We had about 35 of us and it was a blast to look at old pictures in the slide show- some of which I don't even remember why I was in them...It was fun to see all my old classmates and we missed the ones that couldn't be there...I didn't take tons of pictures, but will wait for some to come from Sarah. I loved growing up there. They are life-long friends. Many of us went to school from preschool to elementary to Middle to High School, then on to Snow College together. FUN! Maybe we'll do it again in 5 yrs.




This one was funny...after we posed for the pic, Dean said, "Hey- this is our 7th grade class presidency!" I had totally forgotten that. Dean was pres, I was vice-Pres, and Dan was Sec. Funny what people remember!:

Day trip to San Fran!

Mike took us on a tour of church sites in SanFrancisco- the ship Brooklyn landed here with a bunch of members aboard in early church history. They started the first newspaper, school, etc in the west. So we checked things out...
Here's an old hotel the church members used...there is a funny story about church members here. Apparently a guy- not a member of the church- used to ask the proprieter for whisky through the guy's room window by saying, "The Spaniards are coming". Well, one night, the members that were staying there heard this, and came out shooting to protect the hotel, later finding no bodies- they shot up the bushes!

A park in the middle of the city... a little quiet place with a pond, statues and benches.

The kids LOVED the Wells Fargo museum inside their corporate offices. Lots of hands on stuff for the kids!

We played at the park in Chinatown for a LONG time, until a little Chinese boy threw sand at us- and then chased us around to throw more sand at us...

The money museum in a bank...This is money that was made by early pioneers and we saw bills actually signed by Joseph Smith. Also a $3 bill - one of 5 that were ever made.

Daddy Daughter Sock Hop- Embarrasing or Fun?

McKenzie and Mike had a great time at our YW activity- the Daddy Daughter Sock hop. After such a good time, though, McKenzie said "It was weird to dance with dad". Get used to it, girl- in the next 10 years, you'll dance with him at your wedding- and I'm sure you'll love it then!

WHEW! What a busy time!

Sydney's 10th Birthday party

I know this was a couple of weeks ago now, but with the end of school, I was CRAZY busy and couldn't even think about blogging...but will catch up a little.
Sydney wanted a movie theater party. These were the invites:



When the girls arrived, we played a couple of fun games, then Sydney gave them their party favors, with fake dollar bills, sunglasses, lip gloss and body glitter and popcorn. Then they used their fake money and got in line for the "concession stand", where they bought their hot dogs, chips and drinks, then halfway through the movie they came back for their popcorn and treats. The movie theater here was nice to give me boxes to use to put their goodies in...

They had to give their ticket to Sydney before going into the theater- we had drapes and gold fringe going into the theater and a "red carpet" with lights along the side...

We even darkened all the windows and had a big-screen projector to watch the movie. They had a great time (and left a big mess!)




They played outside a lot and made up their own fun for a while, then decorated a cupcake cake and opened presents. What a fun time! You only turn 10 once!

Shoes anyone?

The other day I asked Addison to get her shoes. She LOVES to go outside and will get her coat and shoes. I keep telling her it's too hot, she doesn't need her coat anymore. She insists and I finally had to put her coat in a box in the garage so she doesn't see it. Anyway, here's what she came back with when I asked her to go get her shoes so we could go...
